AI-Assisted Design and Robotic Fabrication Workflow with reused material

The workshop explores an alternative, material-informed design and Robotic-fabrication workflow in which the available material inventory becomes an active parameter of the design and fabrication process. Drawing on emerging approaches in computational design, machine vision and adaptive robotic fabrication, the workshop investigates how heterogeneous reclaimed components can be digitally captured, classified, and incorporated into computational design processes. Over three days, participants will develop and test an integrated workflow connecting material scanning, digital inventory creation, computational design, robotic simulation, and fabrication. Rather than adapting materials to a predetermined design, the workshop asks how architectural configurations can emerge from the specific properties and constraints of available resources. AI-assisted computational methods will support the translation between material information, design intentions, and robotic fabrication processes, while iterative scanning and feedback enable the digital model to respond to changing physical conditions.
